 Requiem for Georgia Home Buyers

Acording to the news today, foreclosures in Georgia rose 100% over the past year! 1 in every 500 homes was foreclosed upon during the past year in that state.
In Atlanta alone the 16,000 homeless figure is beind debated with the organizations who try to help the homeless saying the those figures are way too low. 16,000 people? I don't know about anyone else, but that figure blows the circuits in my brain. That's my entire town times four who live in the streets and shelters of ONE American city. I would be very interested to know what the homeless stats are in your town! My little Burg is populated between 2500 and 3000 and there are homeless people here. I know of several people myself who live in lean-tos and inadequate shelter within a ten mile radius of this town.
Not a single one of these people is what could be described as a "bum". To my knowledge, none of them are drinkers or drug addicts but many did serve in Viet Nam. A couple of the homeless are mentally ill. So here we have not only people with no home who have worked hard their entire lives, a good number of them served their country under the worst of circumstances. Don't even get me started on the stats for homeless people who are mentally unable to take care of themselves.

Anyone who thinks this is okay or believes these thousands and thousands of people living on the streets, in cars, in shelters etc. are responsible themselves for this uncivilized situation should take extreme measures to insure they also will not be treading the pavement looking for a warm exhaust fan to sleep next too in the forseeable future.

It is not difficult to understand why so many people feel the need to arm themselves, as I discussed in a previous post.
Please answer this one question...doesn't everyone deserve a place to live? Especially if they for very good reasons cannot obtain housing for themselves? While I realize that most people are struggling to keep a roof over their own heads, can we ignore this outrageous situation in "the richest country in the world"? The majority of these people are not mindless wanderers - they are children, elderly, disabled and even working!! We can spend billions of dollars blowing up and rebuilding foreign countries, but we can't even make sure hard working people have access to affordable homes on our own soil.

If I'm just some kind of sniveling liberal and my opinion is wrong...so be it. I will be glad to be wrong on behalf of all those shivering in the cold tonight.

 What If...

Before we are born we actually plan our own lives out and pick our parents...what if the reason someone experiences poverty or abandonment or complete success is because they chose to experience it...what if we have a complete view of our own soul's journey and we choose to live lifetimes that teach us the important lessons of things like forgiveness, unconditional love, giving to others..
What if life itself is just a parable if you will...a story we collectively invented so we would experience every possible feeling and thought in our entire soul's journey...what if life isn't about life on earth at all, but about what we can gain in our soul in terms of understanding and compassion through living an earthly life, but when that's all done, we are still souls alive charting our own existence...perhaps in another dimension..or even planet.

A leading philosopher of the 1960's, Alan Watts suggested that what we are is the experience of "God" blowing himself up (Big Bang)into trillions and trillions of bits, in order to experience every particle of self and finally re-member into the One beingness...cool, huh?

Sometimes when I look at images from Hubble, I imagine that the galaxy is like a big womb or something and earth is an egg and comets are sperm...that we are a molecular microcosm of a larger body and in this body, we are the electrons or protons of atoms...or cells..and when a comet hits earth, it's not really the destruction of life at all, but the fertilizing of the egg and the creation of a macro-cosmic baby in a huge gigantic universe...
Anyway...these are the thoughts in Pye's mind and I wanted to share them.

Politics not as usual in New York

Over the past eight years or so, I have sent many emails, faxes and letters to our elected representatives. Among those I have written are the President, Governors, numerous senators and congress people, state representatives, town government officials etc. In all that time I had received only one written letter addressed to me personally and that was from Sherwood Boehlert, our Republican State Senator who is now retiring. That is until last Friday.

In the past my dealings with our state Attorney's General Office have been nothing short of impressive. I always felt completely comfortable in contacting that office with problems that could not be solved through whatever business I was at odds with. For an example, a few years back I was contacted by a long distance company who offered me two free airline tickets to any city in the U.S. if I switched over and stayed on for twelve months. After I completed my part of the bargain, I received the two airline tickets which were completely dependent upon my staying at the hotels prescribed in the agreement, which of course ran around $400. per night. I contacted the phone company and argued with them over this, because of course, there was no way I could afford to stay anywhere at $400 per night. During the original sales pitch, I had repeatedly asked "what's the catch?" and no one ever mentioned the expensive hotels. After several phone calls to this company, I decided to contact the NY.State Office of the Attorney General. It was not more than a couple of weeks later that I received a check for $500.00 from the aforesaid phone company...nice.

To continue, that same Attorney General was recently elected Governor of New York. One of his first speeches was about Medicaid and what a mess that system is. My own story of medical neglect and malpractice says it all, so I wrote it all out and sent it to his office. Last Friday I received a letter from the Director of Public Information and Corespondence saying: " Governor-Elect Spitzer has asked me to thank you for recent email regarding Medicaid. Your message has been forwarded to the appropriate members of our staff. I am sure that it will be of great interest to them. Please be assured that we will keep your comments in mind for future reference."...etc. etc.

Holy shit batman...a personal letter...hand signed saying what I wrote was of interest to them! Good God Almighty...they read my email and responded..this is a momentous occasion! Responsive government..what a concept!

I have high hopes for Governor Elect Elliot Spitzer. He's never worried about upsetting the apple cart when corporations break the law and rip off the people. His office has uncovered MILLIONS of illegal dollars gathered by these corporations...and further he has made them pay it back! If he applies his same methods of investigation into systems like Medicaid and the prison system, and the education system..I have no doubt he is going to shape things up. The abuses to the systems alone are robbing deserving people of the things they need..like our kids and education! Don't even get me started on Medicaid...I was denied coverage for an overnight stay in the hospital after having metal pieces inserted into my vertabrae, yet they had no problem spending over $3000.00....Three thousand dollars...on a gadget you can find on ebay for $20.00. I quickly wrote out that little story and sent it to the office of Medicaid abuse...so far I have received several letters and phone calls from that office!

In view of this new attitude in New York, I highly encourage everyone to start writing to their representatives, particularly when something is not right and you suspect foul play...like another certain blogger who's boyfriend ended up with stolen bones being grafted into his body! Her Phone calls to the right offices set off an investigation that might just save other people from the same criminal offenses. It's very important to speak up. It seems like no one is listening..and in most cases, that is true; but all you need is one renegade like Elliot Spitzer to rock the boat and make things better. Keep calling and writing until you find that person!
Lord knows Gov. Spitzer will be receiving many many letters from Pye explaining all the ideas she has gathered in her little brain for years now to improve the system...bwa hahaha ha. If our newly elected officials need ideas..I got a million of em! And so do YOU! Don't sit back thinking your opinion doesn't count. They can't imagine what your opinion might be at all if you never tell them. So join the Mad Pye Political Machine today and flood their offices with your emails and letters telling them we need 37% raises too! and free health care as good as theirs...and decent education for OUR kids who don't have a free GO TO YALE ticket. And don't forget to mention hunger and homelessness! Remember..8000 homeless people in one Washington city alone!
Shew..Pye will now get down off her soapbox.
Thank you for your support.

Midnight journeys to the Twilight Zone

I thought after reaching some conclusions and finding clarity in some issues that my dreams would gently fall back into the unconscious. This morning I woke up with a head full of disturbance and tornado level whirlwinds. I can't remember the dreams, only that I feel unbalanced as a result of dreaming them. Apparently there is more afoot in the handing down of these gut-wrenching images.

On another note, in looking around at the world outside of me, there is so much turmoil and disturbance that perhaps that in itself is the cause. I am a cell in the body of life on earth and if the very foundations of life are shaking...

I think I'm in a Catch 22. Logic tells me that in order to bring peace and harmony to life I must find peace and harmony within, yet can I find peace and harmony within if life is not peaceful?

That thought just makes me want to go back to sleep...but if I sleep I'll dream...

Alright...who put this giant hampster wheel in my head? Do I look like a rodent? White rat Pye in a maze...? Maybe I'm amazed at the way I'm with me all the time...

I know....I'll go shopping! I've discovered something very useful and interesting this week...if I don't pay my bills, there's money for Christmas!!!! Yea! and there was much rejoicing. Of course this means January will bring suffering and gnashing of teeth...but that's January - live for today I always say! Fact is, Pye is very diligent about paying bills. First of the month finds many envelopes addressed to services in the outbox. And I must admit...the thought of those outstanding balances gnaws at me like a car alarm in a nearby parking lot set off in the middle of a rainy night I paid my rent...but Mr. Electricity and Telephone not to mention Gen. Time Warner...will just have to be content without Pye's enslavement payment this month.

Damn the torpedoes...damn the dreams...damn the military industrial complex...Pye is going CHRISTMAS SHOPPING! dashing through the ...frost, in a four door suburu, oh the stores we'll go, laughing all the way..ho ho ho. Bells and bobtails ring What does that mean? Bells and bobtails? Oh well...who cares...I'm going to Wallie World. Ciao~
